The most tangible impact of Crucible was that we could turn our Crucible project into a funded PhD studentship. Bean, Filippo (both Scottish Crucible 2016) and I are now sharing a PhD student in the Precision Medicine DTP at Edinburgh University
Without Crucible this would never have happened. Crucible also helped me to sharpen my priorities and to appreciate that research disciplines grow together at an ever-increasing rate. I am currently involved in two project proposals that are more interdisciplinary (physics, engineering, medicine) than the projects I worked on before participating in Crucible. Scottish Crucible gave me more confidence in this
