On the 4th September 2015, the inaugural Scottish Crucible Forum took place at Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh. The Forum celebrated the research and knowledge exchange achievements of Scottish Crucible participants since the programme was launched at the Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) seven years ago.

The day brought together alumni from all seven cohorts of “Cruciblists” for networking and showcasing their inter-institution and inter-disciplinary research projects to invited guests from Parliament, funding bodies, academia and industry. Quentin Cooper brought his usual enthusiasm to the event, which reflected back on how Crucible had impacted research careers across Scotland since its inception

Speakers at the event included:

  • Prof. Ian Boyd from DEFRA
  • Prof Paul Hagan, Scottish Funding Council
  • Prof Ian Underwood University of Edinburgh
  • Prof Steve Reicher,  University of St Andrews

They were joined by past Cruciblists discussing their academic journeys, and public engagement experts from universities and our external partners.
