Dr Ruth Morgan

Veterinary Endocrinologist and Lecturer, Scotland’s Rural College

Ruth Morgan is a veterinary endocrinologist and a lecturer at the SRUC based in the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh. She completed her veterinary training at the University of Cambridge after which she worked as a clinician and specialised in equine internal medicine. She undertook a PhD and post-doctoral position at the University of Edinburgh investigating the role of glucocorticoid metabolism in equine obesity and cardiovascular dysfunction.

In 2017 she started her first Wellcome Trust Clinical Career Development Fellowship using pre-clinical models to study novel glucocorticoid metabolising pathways in obesity. She has recently been awarded a stage 2 Wellcome fellowship to develop a porcine model of obesity for the study of tissue-specific glucocorticoid metabolism in metabolic risk
